What’s the #1 reason to choose the Academy for voice lessons?

The number one reason students join our academy is the exceptional guidance provided by our voice instructors.

By joining our academy, you will become part of a community where you’ll get to experience the support of our instructors as they help you choose a song and guide you through the learning process all the way to the recital, where you’ll get to celebrate your work by performing your piece for your family and friends. In your lessons your instructors will be working on expanding your vocal range, improving breath control, enhancing your harmonizing abilities and other things.

What will I learn from voice lessons at the Academy?

In voice lessons, you will learn a variety of skills and techniques that will help you develop and improve your singing abilities. Here are some key areas you can expect to learn in voice lessons:

Vocal technique: You'll work on breathing exercises to improve breath control and support, vocal warm-ups to enhance vocal range and flexibility, and exercises to develop proper vocal placement and resonance.

Ear training: You'll practice exercises to improve your ability to match pitches, recognize intervals, and develop a good sense of pitch and intonation.

Vocal exercises: Your instructor will guide you through a series of vocal exercises designed to strengthen your vocal muscles, expand your vocal range, and improve vocal control.

Music theory: Understanding basic music theory concepts such as scales, keys, and rhythm will help you better interpret and perform songs.

Interpretation and expression: You'll learn techniques to convey emotions and tell a story through your singing, such as phrasing, dynamics, and vocal expression.

Song repertoire: You'll work on learning and performing songs from different genres that suit your vocal style and preferences. This helps you develop your own musical identity and adapt to different musical styles.

Performance skills: Voice lessons often include opportunities to perform in front of others, helping you build confidence, stage presence, and communication skills.

Vocal health and care: Your instructor will educate you on proper vocal health practices, including warm-up and cool-down routines, hydration, and vocal hygiene, to maintain the health and longevity of your voice.

Style and genre exploration: Depending on your interests, you may explore various vocal styles and genres such as classical, jazz, pop, rock, or musical theater, allowing you to expand your vocal versatility.

Remember, the specific focus and curriculum of voice lessons may vary depending on your goals, the teacher's expertise, and your skill level. It's important to communicate your aspirations and preferences with your voice instructor to tailor the lessons to your specific needs and interests.

Are there recitals?

Absolutely! In December and June, our students get the chance to showcase their talent at an exiting venue with a Steinway Grand piano. We don't believe in charging our students any performance fees, and the admission is completely free. So you can invite as many guests as you’d like.
